It is considered a cool climate region thanks to the proximity to the Pacific Ocean and can also be incredibly warm at certain parts of the day. This shift in temperature allows fruit planted in the area to fully ripen during warmer moments and develop highly concentrated flavors and natural acidity in the cooler periods of the day. Delicate varietals thrive in this sort of environment as fruit does not bake in the sunshine thanks to the afternoon winds and foggy mornings, hence its namesake, FogBreak. Pinot Blanc, a white mutation of the Pinot Noir grape, is a perfect example of a varietal that succeeds in the region. A lesser-known white wine, Pinot Blanc is dry with a medium-bodied mouthfeel and features bright and fruity flavors that will make you go back for glass after glass.
