Caligrafica 2016 Classic Red Lodi California
After being picked, pressed, and fermented some red wines can still be harsh and unpalatable, so winemakers long ago discovered the remedy: oak barrels. Aging a fresh red wine in oak unites the fruit flavors with the vanilla and spice imparted by the wood. The oak adds a richness to a young wine, as well as depth and complexity. The Caligrafica is a result of this love story. It’s an elegant mixture, with blackcurrant fruit melding seamlessly into the oaky flavors from the barrel. This wine is romantic... a product and labor of love. And it took home 93 points and a Gold medal from the 2018 International Women's Wine Competition!
