Busby's Treaty 2016 Shiraz South Eastern Australia Australia
A robust Australian red from two certified Masters of Wine. Nine months in French oak barrels developed notes of smoke and cocoa balanced by fresh, vibrant fruit in this young Shiraz. Named in honor of James Busby, the father of Australian wines, the Shiraz is a bold, full bodied red that is a quintessential South Eastern Australian wine. South Australia has warm days and cool nights which is closer to the weather in Napa than in the nearby Outback. The longer growing season means that grapes ripen slowly and evenly resulting in a more nuanced and robust final product. The Busby’s Treaty 2016 Shiraz is both of those things. It is complex with moderate acidity, and has a velvety mouthfeel that is a perfect complement to hearty cuisine; our favorite way to enjoy it is alongside a rich beef bolognese. Winemakers Winemaking for this bottle was overseen by the superstar team of Peter Leske, Giles Cooke MW, and Fergal Tynan MW. Between them they have decades of wine industry experience, two Masters of Wine certifications, and dozens of incredible wines. The team is famous for ensuring that every wine adheres to strict winemaking traditions that allow for exemplary varietal definition. Their wines are often characterized as having a vibrancy that maintains the terroir of wherever they work. Region South Eastern Australia is home to the largest concentration of the country's vineyards. The warm days and cool nights are closer to the weather in Napa than in the nearby Outback.
